Rwanda is a land of beauty and a wide variety of plant and animal live here. The country is known for its evergreen hills (hence the nickname 'land of a thousand hills') and the mountain gorillas.

Visiting the gorillas may be the reason to travel to Rwanda. In Africa there are only two places where these endangered apes can still be seen, one of them being Rwanda.

Rwanda has a lot to offer for nature lovers

In addition to these impressive animals, Rwanda has much more to offer for nature lovers. It has a number of beautiful national parks like the Akagera National Park, where lions, giraffes, elephants, leopards, hyenas and hippos live and the Parc National Nyungwe Forest, a beautiful tropical mountain rainforest with over one hundred species of orchids and over 275 different bird species . But also the waterfalls Les Chute, the Ndaba and Kivuvumee, where you can swim, sunbathe and enjoy the view over the lake with its many peninsulas are very worthwhile.

Rwanda has a lot of attractions

Other attractions in Rwanda are: the tomb of Diane Fossey, national monuments to victims of the genocide in Gisozi in Nyamata and Ntarama and the National Museum of Rwanda in Butare. This makes Rwanda a country where you're not easily bored.
