Of course we start with all the necessary travel documents: passport, visa, vouchers, directory (also for those at home!), insurance papers, emergency cash and possibly a good map.

For a safari it is best to bring comfortable walking shoes and light coloured casual clothes with you. A shirt with long sleeves and long trousers to protect yourself from the sun and insect bites. Bring along a slip-on or sweater, in the morning and evening can be chilly in some seasons. A thin raincoat may be useful during rainy seasons.
Malaria tablets, insect repellents, any vaccinations, and (if necessary) a mosquito net.

Prescribed medications: make sure you have enough for the duration of your trip. Bring a copy of the prescription. Bring this medication with you in your hand baggage.
Small first aid kit, including aspirin tablets and anti-diarrhoea tablets.
There are several brand names that can be found in outdoor stores.
Binoculars, camera and enough film or memory cards.
Visa or MasterCard credit card. Diners and American Express are not accepted everywhere.
