Bayethe

The lodge has 12 luxury tents with a thatched roof, all overlooking the Buffalo River. Each tent is tucked under the trees from the riverbank, so they offer much privacy. The tents all have an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, outdoor shower, wooden viewing deck and a private plunge pool. The 3 premier tents are located in Bayethe Hills, which also offer a fireplace and a TV.
Bayethe also has a lounge, a large terrace overlooking a waterhole, an excellent restaurant and an enclosed camp (a boma) for having dinner under the stars.

Early in the morning and late evening you go on a game drive under experienced guides in the Shamwari Private Game Reserve, in search of the Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard), hippos, cheetahs and many others animals.

Shamwari Private Game Reserve

The malaria-free Shamwari Private Game Reserve is situated between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. The landscape in this area is different from the reserves on the edge of the Kruger Park. It is hilly and less wooded, making it easier for one to see the wild from a great distance. There are elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and leopards, but also many species of antelope and other wildlife that live there.
