Dwyka Tented Lodge
The Dwyka Tented Lodge is situated in the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, a 54,000 hectares private reserve, at the foot of the Warmwaterberg in the heart of the Kleine Karoo or Little Karoo.
The decor is inspired by the natural colours of the surrounding stones and vegetation, with subtle accents of San culture. The exclusivity ensures that guests can enjoy a personal service and a world-class cuisine, all in an atmosphere of privacy and tranquility.
The nine luxury tents are all equipped with a mini-bar, under floor heating and air-conditioning, a private sun deck, private pool, indoor and outdoor showers, and a spacious luxurious bathroom. For total relaxation, you can head for the Spa.
Activities
A local guide will take you both before noon and after noon on a safari in an open 4x4 vehicle and will tell you all there is to know about the fauna and flora in this area. The hilly landscape is very diversed, as well as the animals that live here. Not only will you see several types of antelopes, cheetahs, zebras, and impalas, but with a little bit of luck, you may also see the white lions who live in this sanctuary. Furthermore, there are also nature walks in search of rock paintings led by a guide, bird observations and the possibility to see stars.
Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
The name Sanbona is a combination of “San,” the Bushmen who inhabited this area 100 years ago and “bona,” the vision of these people. The vast valleys, 650 plant species, 160 bird species, rock formations, rock paintings and a variety of wildlife make this a special destination. The historic release of cheetahs and lions mean that for the very first time in over 200 years these animals can be seen again in the Kleine Karoo. Sabona is the first private game reserve in the West Cape which can offer this.
