Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Ol Pejeta is a special reserve located between the hills of the Aberdares and the snowy peaks of Mount Kenya.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy has become the largest rhino sanctuary outside of South Africa. Covering nearly 100,000 acres on the Equator in Kenya’s Laikipia region, it has the highest ratio of game-to-area of any park or reserve in Kenya.
Rare breeds on the conservancy include 80 Black rhino, 9 white rhino, the extremely rare Grevy’s zebra and Jackson’s Hartebeest, which all feed with a fluctuating population of lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard and plains game in full view of Mount Kenya.
The combination of wildlife and breathtaking views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta ensures an unforgettable safari experience ...
You can also visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where you will have an opportunity to learn a lot about these endangered great apes: why they are here, their natural environment, the problems they face, and what work is being done to protect them. The rangers here know every one of the chimps individually, and have some amusing stories about them.
Working closely with the local communities, OPC funds projects such as schools and clinics from fundraising initiatives such as the ‘Cricket in the Wild’ tournament, usually in September.
