Throughout the year, KwaZulu-Natal is blessed with a sunny climate. It is known as the kingdom of the Zulus, and offers travellers a wide variety of attractions. Zulu, Indian and European influences create a cultural mosaic.
You will find many types of landscapes, from mountains, forests to wetlands, while activities consists of, amongst others, deep sea diving, wild water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, trout fishing, golf and much more.
The port of the province is Durban, famous for its sandy beaches and excellent surf in the warm Indian Ocean. Go shopping in the modern shopping centre or in the Indian Market. The Grey Street Mosque is the largest mosque in the southern hemisphere.
The long coast, north and south of Durban, have beautiful beaches, with numerous family resorts and opportunities to golf and to dive.
KwaZulu-Natal's game parks are internationally renowned. The Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park is known for its rhinos, while the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park protects marine life, mammals, reptiles and birds. This was declared a World Heritage, just like the stunning uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park.
There are more than enough opportunities to experience the lifestyle of the Zulus, while for those interested in military history, various Anglo-Boer, Anglo-Zulu and Zulu-Boer battlefields can be visited.
