Mikumi National Park

The green plains of Mikumi National Park, surrounded by the impressive Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Rubeho Mountains in the southeast, can be reached within four hours by car from Dar es Salaam.

You will discover local villages with its inhabitants, where time seems to have stood still. The national park is also an important observation site for students of ecology and conservation. The Mikumi delta, which is surrounded by adjacent mountains, determine the landscape and attracts large numbers of elephants and buffalo. Vast grasslands dominate the plains and low hills are covered with forests.

You will find many types of wildlife in this park, which can also be admired in Selous, but the area is many times smaller. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, you will see them all. Due to the large diversity of vegetation, the Mikumi National Park is an important home for more than 380 different bird species.
