Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro, the crown of Tanzania, with its 5,895 meters it is the highest mountain in Africa and the largest freestanding mountain in the world. Climb this giant with BMS-Travellers through e.g. the Machame or Marangu route.

Rising lonely from the plains, with eternal snow peaks and often surrounded by clouds, Mount Kilimanjaro is one of Africa's most classic images. It is an unforgettable experience to reach the top in a few days starting from the cultivated fields at the base, through tropical rainforest, savannah and barren plains of snow. The views on the road are breathtaking and will forever remain etched in your memory.

You can take the journey to the "roof of Africa" individually or in international groups (max. 20 people). Of course, there is a cook coming along with you who provides three meals a day.
You will always be supervised by qualified, experienced, English speaking local guides and porters.

The climb is possible throughout the entire year, although the best time is outside the rainy season from August to October and from January to March. Any motivated hiker with a very good condition but no technical climbing experience or knowledge can still reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The top is not the only goal: the success lies more in the quality of the attempt. You go closer to nature than you are used to, you will discover your own motivation and recognize your dependence on others when you return from Kilimanjaro. Whether you reach the summit or not, you'll learn about yourself, your weaknesses and strengths. Your self confidence will be at a new level.

Routes

There are many different routes to climb the mountain, from relatively simple routes to routes for experienced climbers. Below we mention the most climbed routes.

Marangu Route

The most common and easiest route takes about 5 days to reach the summit. You'll be amazed at the landscape which changes dramatically during the ascent. Along this route are modern huts and all other necessary facilities. The wooden huts for overnight stays have a kitchen with cooking equipment and a dining room.

Machame Route

The Machame route is by far the most beautiful route and is suitable for the adventurous and more experienced climber. The road is much steeper than the Marangu route, but you will be rewarded with the most amazing views. On this route you will overnight in tents. The journey to the summit takes at least six days.

Sinya Private Reserve

Sinya, a private concession area of 600 km2 northwest of Kilimanjaro, bordering Kenya and Amboseli National Park, offers wildlife, culture and spectacular landscapes with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro mountain, Mout Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok.
