Pitse Lodge

The lounge with a fireplace for chilly nights, the dining area and deck with swimming pool overlook the open plains. Enjoy views of the constantly changing vista of passing wildlife around the Lodge. Witness Lion and Elephant or herds of Wildebeest and Antelope coming to drink at the Lodge water hole. The boma plays host to intimate dinners under the starlit sky.
Stylishly decorated, romantic and tranquil, the accommodation at Pitse Lodge includes five thatch and stone luxury chalets, two of which are interconnected. Lodges 1, 2 and 5 have luxurious en-suite bathrooms and outside showers. Lodges 3 and 4 are linked by an entrance hall and are ideal for families with small children.

Location

The Lodge is stitched to an ancient rocky ridge on the edge of a vast open grassland situated in the malaria free Welgevonden Private Game Reserve lying just North of Johannesburg. Welgevonden is home to over 50 different mammals and boasts all of Africa’s Big 5. The reserve has one of the largest populations of white rhino of any of Africa’s private reserves as well as kudu, giraffe, zebra, warthog, cheetah, brown hyena, the honey badger, close to 300 bird species and a whole lot more. The restricted number of vehicles allowed in the park and the fact that the animals have never been hunted means that they remain largely unfased by human proximity, allowing for particularly close and personal encounters that you will remember for a lifetime.

Activities

Our ranger will provide a more personal wildlife experience. Game drives are conducted at your leisure. Choose a breathtaking sunrise safari to witness the break of day or a leisurely sundowner as the bush prepares for nightfall. Our ranger can also take you on a fishing trip, a walking safari or a biking adventure.
