Tarangire National Park
The park, located north of Lake Manyara National Park takes its name from the river that winds its way through the area.
Tarangire National Park is known for the famous baobab trees and the high density of wildlife on a relatively small area and about 550 different bird species.
Especially in the dry season, between June and November, it is an absolute spectacle as thousands of wild animals, especially large herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and antelopes migrate from the dry steppe to the Tarangire for fresh and cool water.
Lions, leopards and other predators keep a close eye on the migration in search of a suitable prey. Chances are that you find lions in trees, where they are comfortably relaxing.
Tarangire National Park is also one of the few places in Tanzania where you can see (with luck) wild dogs.
