Gonarezhou National Park

Gonarezhou National Park is located in the southeastern lowland of Zimbabwe and has an area of more than 5000 square kilometers.

Gonarezhou means "Place of many elephants" and is a beautiful park full of rugged and beautiful landscapes. Three major rivers, the Save, Runde and Mwenezi, cut across the park and form natural oases where hundreds of species of birds, wild animals and fish come together to feed and drink. As the name implies, Gonarezhou is famous for its elephants, especially elephants with very large tusks.

In addition to the presence of many elephants, you can find many other large predators and grazers: lion, leopard, cheetah (including the rare king cheta), buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and many species of large antelope. The smaller antelopes such as the rare nyala and the suni are two of the highlights of the park. In the rivers and many pools you can see unique species of invertebrates, such as the Zambezi shark, freshwater goby, black bream and the unique turquoise killifish. In addition, hundreds of species of birds can be spotted in the park.
