About BMS-Travellers

The 70s

BMS-Travelers has been a household name in the travel world for 50 years. In 1976 A-Reizen created a unique department specialised in custom travelling. Its name, BMS-Travellers, had been chosen carefully by the former owner, Bernd Michael Schötz, co-founder of the SGR and creator of the ‘camping flight’.

The 80s

In the early Eighties BMS-Travellers introduced Tanzania as a travel destination. In the same period it also started special trainings for employees from major travel agencies so they could expand their knowledge of Africa. They achieved this by communicating intensively with government officials and other influential people in the region.

The purpose of this all? Making Africa a continent not only worth visiting but also open to travellers.

The 90s

BMS-Travellers was responsible for all logistics regarding  the Camel Trophy Adventure travels, a six month KRO  TV production travelling through Africa and various other extensive expeditions. It was in this context that Marcello Pacenti, current general manager, came into contact with Bernd Schötz and BMS-Travellers.

The 00s

In 2001 the helm was transferred to Marcello Pacenti. A perfect match in every way: Marcello, born in Italy and raised in South Africa, has worked and lived for many years in various countries in southern Africa. Partly because of these experiences, he knows his way around many countries, knows the local people and knows the most beautiful places.

The 10s

After years of loyal service, BMS-Travelers exchanged the old logo for a new, contemporary face in 2016.
The Acacia tree in the logo, iconic for the large grass plains in Africa, underwent a complete transformation to the new logo.

The 20s

In 2026, BMS-Travellers marks a milestone: its 50th anniversary. Over the years, the company has created and delivered countless extraordinary journeys, of which it is immensely proud. In the years ahead, BMS-Travellers will continue to innovate and invest in its service, offering truly immersive experiences and exceptional travel.
