Discover all that's possible
Take a handful of space-age skylines, beautiful resorts, add some glorious beaches, garnish with age-old traditions, and you've got the recipe for a vacation to the United Arab Emirates...
Located in the southeastern horn of the Arabian Peninsula, the United Arab Emirates (or UAE for short) is a country made up of seven kingdoms called emirates. Each tells its own story, but they all share one thing: the climate. This part of the world basks in warm winters and scorching hot summers.
The lesser-known side of the Emirates includes remote, beautiful desert dunes on the edge of the 'Empty Quarter' and craggy, awe-inspiring wadis in the northeast bordering Oman.
The most popular emirate of the UAE is Dubai. It mostly comes down to a flashy, futuristic facade, like the world's tallest building and a famous man-made island in the shape of a palm tree.
The country's capital, Abu Dhabi, comes in close second with a skyline that is just as otherworldly.
The other five emirates, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain, often receive less attention. But they certainly don't deserve it. Ras Al Khaimah, for example, offers 40 kilometers of coast with no footprint, while Fujairah offers some of the best snorkeling spots along the Persian Gulf.
