Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This park is a fantastic prehistoric rainforest on the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley. The valley are so overgrown with creeping vegetation and shrubs that they are virtually impenetrable.

Half of all the mountain gorillas in the world reside here. Looking in the expressive brown eyes of these gentle giants, is definitely the most exciting encounter of wild animals that you can experience throughout Africa.
You can go on foot in search of these beautiful animals under experienced guides. The walks take one hour to sometimes 5 hours.

In addition, there is much to see in Bwindi. You will find, amongst other 90 species of mammals, 11 primates, elephants, leopards, Civet cats, otters, etc. One of the most unusual primates are the black-white colobus. The birds are also prominent here, 23 species are native.

Gorilla Permits

There is a limited number of visitors allowed per group each day. If you want to visit the gorillas, you must have a 'Gorilla Permit'. It is essential to have a Gorilla Permit situated well in advance.

A permit costs US$ 700.00 per person per day. This includes the entrance fees for the park. Through BMS-Travellers, this is already included in the fare. Even if there is no guarantee that you will see mountain gorillas, it is definitely worth it!
