Rwenzori Mountains National Park
The Rwenzori Mountains National Park borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), it is a World Heritage of extraordinary natural beauty. Here are the fabulous, ice-capped peaks of the 'Mountains of the Moon', which rise from an almost always permanent equatorial mist, their slopes are covered with gigantic and unique vegetation.
Unlike other East African high mountains, the Rwenzoris are not volcanic, but are formed during the momentum of the Earth's crust that created the Rift Valley. The highest mountain, Mount Stanley, is the third highest mountain in Africa and offers an excellent and a very satisfying challenge to mountain climbers.
The Rwenzori Mountain National Park is only accessible for hikers. It offers great hiking and climbing trips with stunning views and an unusual landscape. The most popular trekking route is a 7-day, accompanied by porters and guides, with accommodation in mountain huts.
The Rwenzori safari takes you to this beautiful, misty, pointy mountains, with their 'Lord of the Rings' atmosphere - an entirely variant landscape than anywhere else in Uganda or even in East Africa.
