Gibb’s Farm
The old colonial house, Gibb's Farm, was built in the late 1800's by German settlers and up to this day it has not lost its charm. Gibb's Farm is located near the Ngorongoro Crater.
It is now converted into a lodge and has 17 luxury 2-person cottages and 2 2-bedroom cottages, all located on a working coffee plantation surrounded by a beautiful garden with tropical flowers, trees and many bird species.
The main farmhouse features a charming living room, two dining rooms, outside verandahs, a gazebo and gift boutique.
Overall, Gibb's Farm is an ideal accommodation to come by and to enjoy the peace and the wonderful food...and of course, not to forget, the traditional 'Afternoon Tea'.
Activities
You can take a walk over the plantation, possibly accompanied by local employees who can tell you all about the crops and the environment. Of course you can also take a peek at the roasting of the coffee beans, harvested from its own plantation, or pay a visit to the gallery where creative local souls come to express themselves. There are several mountain bike routes, from relaxation to adventure tracks. For the bird watch lovers: the farm also has many bird species (more than 200) to observe.
You can also have a guided walk to the beautiful waterfall, which is right on the outskirt of the farm. En-route you come across the 'elephant cave', a place where elephants pick out minerals from the ground. You can also encounter other large animals, such as Cape Buffalo, Bushbuck, Waterbuck and baboons.
