Lake Eyasi
The Eyasi salt lake lies between the Ailipi Escarpment in the northwest, a 1000 meters high granite cliff, and Kidero mountains in the southeast. It is a very hot and dry area.
The landscape is flat and dry and the vegetation consists only of high agaves and succulents. Almost everything in this rugged landscape seems to have weapons; spines and thorns everywhere. The height of the water in the lake is seasonal. Sometimes the lake is almost dry.
Two tribes live around Lake Eyasi: the Hadzabe (hunters) and Datoq (semi-nomads). The Hadzabe tribe is an ancient tribe that has probably been living for more than 10,000 years in this region. They still live like very primitive hunters and lead a nomadic life in search of food. They go hunting with bow and arrow. Their language is a click language similar to that of the Bushmen in South Africa. You can go by foot to meet this special strain.
