Mashatu Camp
In a remote outpost in eastern Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers, lies the Mashatu Lodge and the Tented Camp amidst the Mashatu Game Reserve.
The exclusive lodge consists of 14 spacious suites overlooking the surrounding bush. It is built on a platform around a drinking pool. From the dining room, lounge and bar, you have a view overlooking many animals that come together here. Between safaris you can relax at the poolside. On a clear day, dinner is served in the traditional boma under the stars.
In the ‘Discovery Room’, you can learn all there is to know about the scientific research done on the animals from Mashatu.
Safaris are made in open 4x4 vehicles (max. 8 people per auto), on foot, horseback or mountain bike.
Mashatu Tent Camp
The camp consists of 8 tents with comfortable beds, a fan, an en-suite shower and toilet. The meals are served under the rooftop veranda or in the traditional boma, around a campfire. The camp also has a swimming pool.
Safaris are made in open 4x4 vehicles (max. 8 people per auto), on foot, horseback, or mountain bike.
Mashatu Game Reserve
This part of Botswana, also well-known as Tuli Block, is a stunning wildlife area with savannas, riparian forests, wetlands, open plains and sandstone cliffs. The name comes from the gigantic Mashatu trees that occur all over the 30,000 hectares private reserve.
Elephants, impalas, wildebeests, giraffes and zebras look for shade under the gigantic Mashatu trees along the banks of the river, while at nightfall, the bat-eared fox, the African wild cat and the leopard search for their prey. The rugged rock formations provide nice views and are home to many large cats, such as lions, cheetahs and leopards.
It is an area of exceptional beauty where one discovers the rugged, untouched African wilderness in an open 4x4 vehicle, and be guided by highly experienced rangers and trackers while on a walking safari, mountain bike or horseback. Apart from the safaris, you can also visit historical and archaelogical sites, such as the Motloutse ruins and the Pitsani Koppies.
