Mufindi Highlands Lodge

The lodge is situated close to the top of the 2,000 ft high Rift Valley Escarpment in the Mufindi Highlands. It is a private farm surrounded by rainforest, tea plantations and many river streams.

Your hosts are Geoff and Vicky Fox, who have been living in this area since 1950. The lodge consists of 10 chalets. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. The lodge is very suitable for families. The huge two-storey villa offers a place for up to 12 people. The restaurant part consists of two floors with a children's playroom and a room with a pool table.

The Mufindi Highlands Lodge offers you the opportunity to explore the area by foot, by horse or by mountain bike. You can also opt for a walk through the forest guided by a guide; a boat trip to, or swimming, you can also golf, or with the guides to the nearby local village for a culture experience. There are various lakes in the area where you can go fly-fishing for rainbow trout. All the above activities are free of charge.

Orphans in the Wild

The family Fox is very active and involved in the welfare of the local people. Thus, they help raise money for various projects in the region. One of the projects is the construction (and supply) of a local hospital. Another long-term project is to build homes for orphans. These children became orphans because their parents and other relatives died of AIDS. Of course, the local school also gets help. Both the people and the family Fox are very proud of their achievements. During a tour, they are happy to show you how far the various projects have advanced.
