Stanley’s Kopje
TEMPORARILY CLOSED
Stanley's Kopje (previously known as Foxes Safari Camp) lies on a rock formation in the Mkata plains in Mikumi National Park and has 12 spacious tents on a wooden platform with a thatched roof.
The tents are surrounded by grassland and 'kopjes'. The so-called kopjes (an English word with clearly a Dutch origin) are large, round rocks made of granite, which are scattered around the landscape as islands. Because they precipitate a little above the landscape they are an ideal spot to view lions and leopards, which are often seen from up there.
Your accommodation has a sleeping compartment, bathroom with shower and toilet and a veranda. The open restaurant, swimming pool and camp is located on a hill with a beautiful view over the plains and the Mwanambogo Waterhole, where large concentrations of animals can be seen. From this cam you can make beautiful safari's in Mikumi National Park and an adventurous day trip by foot to the Udzungwa Mountain National Park.
The Camp is named after the explorer Morten Stanley, who led an expedition through Mikumi National Park and right past the location of the Camp.
