Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago consists of no fewer than 32 islands and islets, including Ibo, Matemo, Medjumbe, and Quilálea Quirimba. It is situated on the coast of Mozambique in the Indian Ocean near the city of Pemba, capital of the province of Cabo Delgado.
The islands consist of fossilized coral rock that is rich in vegetation and forms the habitat for wading birds, terns and turtles. On some islands small, exclusive resorts are built. Some 11 islands in the south of the archipelago now form the Quirimbas National Park. In addition, many parts of the archipelago are now declared a protected area.
You can dive among the beautiful coral reefs, lazing on the endless, pristine beaches, or explore the tropical islands of the Quirimba Archipelago opposite of Pemba and enjoy freshly caught fish and shellfish.
